Motor Trend recently tested the new Mustang 5.0 against the BMW M3. Quintessential high performance sports car vs. American barbarian. The results are really really close. The above video just has the drag race portion, but in another video the action takes to the track. 

Surprisingly the Mustang performs very well in both settings. Considering the fact that it’s significantly cheaper than the M3($33,685 vs $67,050 for the highest end models of each car) I think Ford deserves massive props for achieving that level of performance at this price.

Ford continues to make cars that perform well at a decent price, first came the Fusion then the Taurus SHO and the Flex add the Fiesta and now the Mustang which performs exceptionally well not only in the 5.0 spec but in the standard V6 as well, and it seems like Ford is in the middle of a renaissance.
